Kate has been freelance casting since her freshman year of college. She firmly believes that everyone should get a chance to see themselves onstage so she strives to make her projects as diverse as possible and is constantly looking for new ways to make casting more inclusive.

She has cast a wide variety of projects, ranging from new works to Shakespeare to film and everything in between.

D.C. Young Professionals Open Call

The D.C. Young Professionals open call is an open call audition that gives non-union actors, who recently graduated from undergrad or graduate programs, and other young professionals, a chance to connect with D.C. theatre companies. The event is exclusive to young professional actors (18-32 years old) who are based in D.C.

It also gives theatre companies a chance to get to know new actors who live in the area and are ready to work!

The D.C. Young Professionals Open Call came about because Kate realized that with the pandemic, a lot of younger actors weren’t able to do showcase and in turn, theatres didn’t know who was emerging. Thus the open call was born!

2024 marks the third year of the open call! Each year, over 150 actors are seen through in person and virtual submissions and over 20 theatres have attended.
